The feet serve the foundation for the rest of your body structure. If feet are painful or not mechanically sound, this can affect the knees, hips and even the lower back. Good foot care and regular foot checks are an important part of the health care. Flat feet are common in children. Flat feet can lead to knock knees, poor balance or clumsy when running or walking around. Hence, proper diagnosis is necessary to prevent the future biomechanical and structural problems.
the main goal of this festival is screening of children`s feet who are between 4 and 14. Although, children don’t complain about foot pain or problems walking, it is important their feet are checked during childhood to identify any concerns. This age is a gold age for treatment. Whereas the structures are flexible, there is opportunities to correct early and result in less problems as an adult.
A ‘positive’ screening test identifies people who are at increased likelihood of having the condition and who require further investigation to determine.
In this festival children are participated. There will also be some coloring in competitions. We teach children how they can distinguish normal foot from abnormal via foot print. At the festival foot specialist (podiatrists) examine the footprint and do 2D scanning of foot to evaluate pressure distribution pattern (via pressure platform) and assessing a child`s lower limb development, gait, foot structure, pain and any other symptoms the child may be having. Therefore, they identify any problems in early stages and help parents understand and monitor their children`s condition better.
After getting all this information of screening, parents may draw a chart showing whether the Hind feet is valgus or varus. if they see that there is no problem with medial or fore feet.they may look for problem knee joints or in hip joint because this may also cause some issues in feet. Knee joint problems could be Genu Varum (Bowlegs) and Genu Valgum (Knock-Knees) or hip joint problem could be coxa varum or valgum.
