  • Dr.Foot Festival

The average person takes approximately 10,000 steps per day. Each step can place two to three times the force of your body weight on your feet and involves a complex network of bones, muscles, tendons, and ligaments. Good foot health is essential as feet serve as the foundation for the rest of your body structure. If feet are painful or not mechanically sound, this can affect the knees, hips and even the lower back. Good foot care and regular foot checks are an important part of the health care. the foot health can be a clue to overall health. With proper detection, intervention, and care, most foot and ankle problems can be lessened or prevented. Children’s feet are not the same as adults’ feet. Their feet are soft and flexible because the bones are not yet completely formed. This means their feet can be more easily damaged than the feet of adults. Flat feet are common in children. Flat feet can lead to knock knees, poor balance or clumsy when running or walking around. Abnormal foot biomechanics is a major contributing factor in the development of pain and injury in children’s feet, ankles, knees and legs. Hence, proper diagnosis is necessary to prevent the future biomechanical and structural problems.

    Purpose

Childhood is an important time for the development of feet. Untreated problems can cause severe pain, deformities and gait abnormalities in the growing child. So, the main goal of this festival is screening of children`s feet who are between 4 and 14. Although, children don’t complain about foot pain or problems walking, it is important their feet are checked during childhood to identify any concerns. This age is a gold age for treatment. Whereas the structures are flexible, there is opportunities to correct early and result in less problems as an adult. The most significant matter in this festival is teaching the side effects of abnormal structures and biomechanics and how can keep from getting musculoskeletal problems. long term consequences of pediatrics flatfoot included the extreme inward foot motion. It`s lead to send forces through the foot and up the body, as in a chain with many links. The negative effects of these forces can lead to foot and ankle out of alignment which cause increasing possibility of pain.

The seconds aims are increasing the quality of life. It can be said feet are often over looked as a vital part of the body. Most activities relay on feet such as running/walking, dancing, and so on. If it has any problems, the quality of life will change. Due to pain and increase energy consumption, the person reduces the activities and become more obsess. This form the negative cycle which can cause more problems in life.

The third aim of screening is to reduce the costs of the disease in the community. This is achieved by detecting the abnormalities earlier. Early diagnosis and treatment increases the chances of successfully treating.A ‘positive’ screening test identifies people who are at increased likelihood of having the condition and who require further investigation to determine.

    Methodes

In this festival children are participated, so educated them is a part of the festival. There will also be some coloring in competitions and they will have the chance to win a prize.

We teach children how they can distinguish normal foot from abnormal via foot print. For example, If the footprint looks like an oblong pancake with toes, foot pronate excessively or is flat feet. If there's little or no connection in the footprint between the front part of the foot and the heel, foot under-pronate or have a high arch. This means a lot of weight is landing on the outside edge of the foot.

At the festival foot specialist (podiatrists) examine the footprint and do 2D scanning of foot to evaluate pressure distribution pattern (via pressure platform) and assessing a child`s lower limb development, gait, foot structure, pain and any other symptoms the child may be having. Therefore, they identify any problems in early stages and help parents understand and monitor their children`s condition better. Foot health support Community and Dr. Foot clinic are main sponsor of the festival.
